Environment & Sustainability Policy

How CCUK approaches environmental responsibility and sustainability across its operations.

Our Commitment

CCUK is committed to operating in a way that is environmentally responsible, commercially realistic and transparent. We will:

  • maintain carbon neutral status through annual measurement, calculation and offsetting of organisational emissions;
  • reduce avoidable emissions and waste where decisions are within our control;
  • make sustainability part of everyday working practices, procurement decisions and travel choices;

Carbon Neutral Status and Reporting

CCUK is certified carbon neutral by Carbon Neutral Britain for May 2026 to April 2027. The certificate verifies that CCUK met Carbon Neutral Britain Certification standards in measuring, calculating and offsetting organisational carbon emissions selected within the Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions boundary during the period 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2025.

Carbon offsetting is not treated as a substitute for reduction. It is part of our current carbon neutral approach while we continue to focus on practical reductions in travel, vehicle use, resource consumption and energy demand.

Premises and Working Locations

Within our Scotland office and other work locations, we will:

  • use recycling bins and site recycling facilities where available;
  • encourage digital working and avoid unnecessary printing;
  • switch off equipment, screens and chargers when not in use, where practical and safe;
  • raise relevant environmental issues with landlords or site operators where improvements may be possible;
  • keep office purchasing proportionate and avoid unnecessary consumables.

Travel, Vehicles and Commuting

Travel is necessary for some of our work, but we will avoid unnecessary journeys and choose lower-impact options where practical. Our approach is to make sensible commercial decisions rather than impose unrealistic rules.

  • Use virtual meetings where they are effective and appropriate.
  • Plan journeys to reduce duplication, mileage and avoidable overnight stays.
  • Consider public transport where it is practical, safe, cost-effective and compatible with business needs.
  • Encourage car-sharing where appropriate and where it does not create operational or personal safety issues.
  • Support efficient driving habits and journey planning for company car and business mileage users.
  • Maintain fully electric vehicle options where commercially and operationally viable.

Waste and Resource Use

We will reduce waste at source wherever possible, with a practical focus on the materials and behaviours most relevant to an audio and media business.

  • prioritise digital documents, electronic signatures and online collaboration;
  • reuse equipment and accessories where safe, secure and operationally suitable;
  • dispose of IT and electrical equipment responsibly through approved routes;
  • reduce single-use consumables where reasonable alternatives are available;
  • use recycling facilities and encourage correct segregation of recyclable waste.

Procurement and Suppliers

We take a light-touch but responsible approach to environmental considerations in procurement. Where relevant and proportionate, we will consider supplier environmental credentials alongside quality, value, security, resilience, service and commercial suitability.

Digital and Technology Sustainability

As a media and technology-enabled business, we recognise that digital activity has an environmental impact. We will:

  • use approved systems efficiently and avoid unnecessary data duplication;
  • manage device lifecycles responsibly, balancing performance, security and reuse;
  • consider energy efficiency when selecting equipment where commercially appropriate;
  • store company data in approved systems so retention, deletion and security controls can operate effectively;
  • avoid unnecessary creation, storage or transfer of large files where a lighter workflow is suitable.

People and Culture

Environmental responsibility works best when it is practical and shared. CCUK will encourage employees, freelancers and contractors to make sensible sustainable choices in daily work, including switching off unused equipment, reducing waste, using recycling facilities, avoiding unnecessary printing and considering travel impacts.

Governance and Continuous Improvement

CCUK will review this policy and its carbon position at least annually. Our review will consider:

  • the latest carbon neutral certification and emissions reporting;
  • changes to our office, co-working, travel, vehicle, technology or supplier arrangements;
  • progress against practical reduction opportunities identified in carbon reporting;
  • feedback from employees, clients, suppliers or tender partners;
  • whether environmental claims remain accurate, evidenced and proportionate.

Policy Statement

CCUK is carbon neutral, commercially responsible and committed to continuous environmental improvement. We will continue to measure and offset our organisational emissions, reduce avoidable impact where practical, use resources responsibly, and be transparent with clients, partners and colleagues.
